Congregations United for Racial Equality & Justice

Working together to fight racism in our communities

SEE 'Upcoming Events' for coming meetings and events.

Congregations United for Racial Equality & Justice (CUREJ) is comprised of members from the Unitarian Society of Hartford, Unitarian Universalist Society: East (Manchester) and the Universalist Church of West Hartford, and the Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield, CT.  Our members want to come into right relationship with Hartford community builders and advocates in order to understand the multi-faceted face of racism and its economic, educational, social, political and religious roots and consequences.  Members know that they have much to learn and realize that our own congregations are often institutionally caught in the web of racism.  CUREJ wishes to reduce institutional racism both in their congregations and in the community.
