Board Minutes 08/09/11

(This business was the only public part of the Board Meeting held August 9, 2011)

Unitarian Society of Hartford: business transacted by board via e-mail 8/7/11 pertaining to proposed solar panel installation, and included by reference in minutes of 8/9/11 meeting.

On 8/3/11, David Newton contacted board members via e-mail to request an expeditious go-ahead on (1) the concept, and (2) initial exploratory and non-binding actions by Buildings and Grounds to work with DCS Energy of Glastonbury, CT on a possible solar installation on Meeting House grounds. Because of critical timing, B&G needed authorization to act on behalf of USH before the scheduled 8/9/11 board meeting.

It was moved that the Board approve the Building & Grounds Sub-Council pursuing acquisition of an 18KW solar panel installation on the following basis:

Such installation would be leased to USH for the sum of $0/month for a period of 60 months after which the system becomes the property of USH.
USH can agree to have the contractor retain all incentive grants for the installation of the system.
USH would cover any costs associated with placing a fence around the panels, insurance as necessary, zoning costs and permissions and any related costs of this nature.

Prior to signing a construction agreement, the Board notes preliminary steps must be completed successfully including site survey, placement of solar collectors, fencing and insurance issues viewed from the perspective of USH.
