Women’s Alliance Unitarian Society of HartfordBuilding CommunityWomen’s Alliance The Women’s Alliance ministers to women in the Unitarian Society of Hartford by promoting friendship and sisterhood, particularly among mature women, and providing programs that strengthen ties within the Society and the community, The Alliance is supervised by a cabinet of women who meet bimonthly to plan programs and coordinate activities with other sub-councils. We maintain a unit membership with the Unitarian Universalist Women’s Federation (UUWF) for those women who wish to be involved in their advocacy program. Click here to learn more about the UUWF. Contact Louise Schmoll (860-242-2953) to find out how you can offer your talents to the activities of this sub-council. Ongoing events We sponsor an annual educational grant for women seeking education beyond high school. We also make modest contributions to Connecticut groups providing special services to women, such as Planned Parenthood, My Sister’s Place and Interval House. Historically, we have spent 70-80% of our profit for this. To fund our philanthropic activities, we raise funds through the sale of calendar planners (in the fall) and two bake sales per year (usually December and May).
