Unitarian Alliance Ministry to Women

Purpose: To minister to women in the Unitarian Society of Hartford by creating opportunities to promote friendship and sisterhood, particularly among mature women, and to provide programs that will strengthen ties within the Society and the Community,

Organization: This sub-council is supervised by a Cabinet of women interested in furthering its purpose. They meet bimonthly to plan programs and coordinate activities with other sub-councils.

On going events: We will continue the tradition of sponsoring an annual Educational Grant for women seeking additional education beyond high school and also to make modest contributions to Connecticut groups providing special services to women such as Planned Parenthood, My Sister’s Place and Interval House. Historically we have spent 70-80% of our profit for this.

To fund our philanthropic activities, we plan to continue our traditional fundraising through the fall sale of Calendar Planners and two bake sales per year. (Usually, December and May)

We will maintain a unit membership with the Unitarian Universalist Women’s Federation, (UUWF) for those women who wish to be involved in the advocacy program of the UUWF. You can learn more on their web site: uuwf.org
