The Homeless Do Not Have Such a Loving Community

Hello, my name is Nora Berg and I am a part of the Youth Group.  I have been coming to this Meeting House my whole life--which is about 15 years.  A few years ago I realized that I wanted to come here and that if my parents stopped coming I would continue anyway.  I enjoy coming here because I feel accepted and loved.  The youth that I have grown up with mean a lot to me. The adults in this community have always been caring and helpful. It means a lot to me to have people I can turn to.

The homeless usually don’t have such a loving community watching out for them.  Usually, they don’t always have the help they need.  They don’t have the fellowship that I have grown up with.  Last night we honored those people who aren’t as lucky as us to have a supportive friend.  We didn’t even experience the worst part of being homeless because we had friends to keep us company; we had a full belly; we had warmth, and we knew we had someplace to go to when it rained.

My Sisters’ Place gives hope to women and their children who don’t have a safe place to go.  They provide emergency shelter, a safe haven to those dealing with domestic violence, and empowerment and guidance to those who are willing to work for a common goal.  The collection this morning will be going to help My Sisters’ Place.  Please think about how hard it must be to live out in the streets, to have no place to turn, and to not feel loved or supported.  Please donate generously. - Nora Berg
