Jill Friedman    Jill Free (aka Jill Friedman) began her singing career after learning of the injustices of our society during the early 70’s and saw the power of using music as a form of protest. Jill has dedicated her life to community activism and singing music for social change. As a member of the People’s Music Network, Jill has performed with the likes of Pete Seeger, Alvin Carter, Sr., Mixashawn Rozie and Bread and Roses, and has traveled from Ashville, N.C. to Chicago, IL, Jamaica, West Africa and beyond, bringing songs of freedom and struggle, love and life. Jill can be seen singing with children from the Hartford community or sitting in with local jazz and blues bands around town, and is one of Hartford’s biggest believers that music transcends our differences and has the power and energy to bring people together in peace and community!

Tang Sauce is an artistic experience of sound, words, movements and thoughts.

Tang Sauce was recently mentioned as a torch bearer for the direction that hip hop is going by Abiodun of the legendary Last Poets.

Tang was born and raised in Hartford, CT and the Greater Hartford area. He has been involved in the Tri- State arts scene for years involved in productions like “Afropunk Battle of the Bands”, “Under the curtain (A Hip- Hop cultural exchange between Russia and USA)”, and WNPR’s “Where we live” show. He has hosted the Trinity International Hip Hop Festival, has his own pandora.com station, and has been featured on the cover of Connecticut newspapers Hartford Courant & CTNOW. Tang brings various Hip-Hop flows with a cultured perspective, with which he spreads peace, love, and positivity.

David Giardina is an award recipient member of the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism, he has performed extensively throughout the Northeast at schools, bandshells, major festivals, First Nights, clubs and both Connecticut casinos as a soloist and with ensembles he has formed such as Fiesta del Norte, Bamboleo, Goza, and the Typsy Gypsys. With roots in the sixties folk- rock culture, Dave studied classical guitar with Sharon Isbin and Philip Defremery, Jazz with Sal Salvador and Bob Kobus and Flamenco with Mario Escudero and Paco Pena (Spain). He also played in master classes for John Williams, Manuel Barrueco, Ben Verdery, Abel Carlevaro, and Oscar Ghiglia.Considered a versatile, superb performer by other musicians,

Dave expresses an irresistible toe-tapping energy as effortlessly as he traces a delicate melodic line.  He brings to each performance an extensive repertoire and years of training in different traditions—the clarity and precision of classical technique, the explosive and exotic sound of flamenco, the smoothly shifting harmonies of jazz, the exuberant energy of traditional Latin music and the classic power chords  and riffs of rock ‘n roll.

Lee Mixashawn Rozie has been a practicing multi-disciplinary and internationally acclaimed Jazz artist for the past three decades. Mr. Rozie holds a degree in History and Ethnomusicology from Trinity College and is equally at home in academic and cultural settings. Beginning from the point of Indigenous artist, using ancient cultural principles, maritime arts and historical data, both written and oral, he has developed a system of “Hemispheric Principles” to inform and guide his artform, more directly referred to as “Wave Art” : sonic, aquatic percussive and harmonic. Mixashawn offers musical performance and educational workshops on Indigenous music traditional and contemporary, as well as original, workshops that utilize his extensive experience as performer, Indigenous artist and educator to inspire creativity and natural expression for all ages.

He’s received critical acclaim for his music and performed with the most respected voices of Hip-Hop, from Talib Kweli to Joyner Lucas. Hip-Hop heads know him as the charismatic lyricist Self Suffice, whose album with Dreamville’s Mez summited the Indie Hip-Hop Top 40. His positive use of rap music has been lauded by the NY Times, NPR, and many others. Catch him with his live band at a college near you, performing the new album “Self Control”.
